What is a Licensed Professional Counselor?

Bob Grant

In the state of Georgia of the United States of America there are certain requirements that an individual must be licensed by the State in order to practice as a licensed professional counselor. Those requirements are:

A Masters degree in a counseling related field.

A year's internship under direct supervision of a licensed professional.

After your internship, an additional 3 years of counseling practice with ongoing supervision.

Upon 3 years experience, a licensing test is administered and upon successful completion, an individual is granted their license.

The process takes at least 3 years to accomplish, even after a Master's degree.

As you can see, the process is very through and demanding. To obtain such a license requires extensive study and dedication. When it comes to your unique situation, wouldn't you want to work with an expert that has this level of  training?
